WELCOME TO
THE KNEBWORTH AND MARYMEAD PRACTICE

This website is designed to help everyone involved with the practice. We realise that it is sometimes not easy being a patient and we hope that the enclosed information will be helpful.

We are a large practice, caring for 12,300 patients (approximately two thirds at Knebworth surgery and one third at our Stevenage branch surgery). There are over 35 staff working in the practice, not including district nurses, midwives and health visitors. In our surgeries, our doctors see 150 patients, and the practice nurses 60 patients, per day on average. We make between 25 and 30 patient home visits a day.

The practice nurses, counsellor, health visitors, community nurses and midwives also see patients in the surgeries.

The doctors consider themselves part of the “practice team”; other members may be able to help with your particular concern. Our nurses offer health advice and support services, either by “general consultation” or as part of a specific “clinic” (eg diabetic, family planning, diet, asthma, healthy lifestyle etc). It is possible to make direct appointments with them.

Assistance on general matters is obtainable from the business practice manager and reception team. In addition, there are staff working behind the scenes to help the practice run efficiently, eg computer operators, secretaries and housekeeping staff.

We do try to offer appointments as requested. If people find it necessary to be seen on the same day, we feel that it is reasonable for them to expect a certain waiting time. The receptionist will advise on the best time to arrive to help keep waiting time to a minimum. Of course, we will see emergencies as soon as possible. You may not be able to see the doctor of your choice in these circumstances - remember, we are always more willing to give telephone advice, and it may save a visit to the surgery.

Business Manager's Message: 26 Jan 2012

Dear All,

We now have a Patient Participation Group.  Further information about the Group, the remit of the Group and how it can help up will be distributed to all.

Can I ask that you look at the Patient Representative Group Tab on the left hand side of the home page, this will take you to a questionnaire. Your feedback is appreciated on the service being asked.  It will be displayed until the end of February 2012.

I will update the message screen of results of the questionnaire after the results have been reviewed.
