AI Information

AI usage in consultations at Knebworth and Marymead medical practice.

We use an NHS-approved tool called Accurx Scribe in some consultations. This AI transcription software helps our clinicians create accurate clinical notes more efficiently, so they can focus fully on you during the appointment.

What does Accurx scribe do?

Accurx Scribe listens to your conversation with the clinician and produces a draft clinical note in real-time. It’s simply a tool to speed up note-taking, it does not make diagnoses, decisions, or treatment recommendations. The clinician always remains in control.

Is your information safe?

Yes.

Your privacy is fully protected at every step:

  • Audio is never stored. The tool processes speech in real time and deletes the audio immediately after transcription.
  • Data is securely handled. Draft notes are temporarily stored on secure NHS-compliant servers in the UK/EU. These are automatically deleted after 30 days.
  • No data leaves the NHS environment. Your information is not used to train AI systems and is never sold or shared with third parties.
  • Approved for NHS use. Accurx Scribe meets all required NHS Information Governance, GDPR, and cybersecurity standards.

Who sees the notes?

Only your clinician sees the draft. They review, edit, and approve it before anything is saved to your official medical record. You can ask to see the draft if you wish.

Do I have to use it?

No. Your consent is important. If you would prefer not to have AI used during your consultation, please just let us know. The clinician can pause or disable it at any time. This will not affect the quality of your care in any way.

In summary

Accurx Scribe is a secure, NHS-approved tool used only to help clinicians take notes more efficiently.

It does not make decisions or diagnoses, and your information is never sent off-site or used for anything other than supporting your care.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to speak to your clinician or a member of our team.
